We live in a busy world. I don’t know about your house, but mine is always in “Everything all at once, hurry up, go go go” mode. Sound familiar? I had a feeling you would understand.

We try to schedule things for ourselves, and occasionally there is time, but usually us-time involves multitasking—Netflix while folding clean laundry or play dates at the park. Several things have to happen at the same time.

Exercise is one of my most valued solo activities and fitting it in is always tough. One way to find time in a busy schedule is with gyms that provide child care. Some have wonderful activities so kids can exercise while mom and dad do, too. Here some locations in Pittsburgh that help everyone in the family find time for exercise.

Pittsburgh Gyms with Child Care

Healthtrax features a kidzone which includes several fitness programs geared towards children of various ages. This is included at no additional cost with the price of a family membership.

LA Fitness has Kids Klub and most Pittsburgh locations have child care—none at Southside Works—with varied rates.

Fitness 247 has a flat membership rate that includes access to all amenities, including child care, at no additional cost for parents.

St. Clair Fitness  Racquet Club membership offers various plans for families and parents, many of which include child care at no additional fee.

Club One has child care included at no additional fee with a gold membership. If parents don’t have a gold membership, cost per daycare session is an extra $2 per child.

JCC has babysitting in Squirrel Hill and the South Hills. Monthly rates apply for members.

YMCA offers various child care programs, including a child watch service during parental work outs, as well as after school programs. This service is provided at no additional cost with certain types of memberships, although they are no available at all locations.

Expanding Your Babysitter Network

Great babysitters are worth their weight in gold. The challenge is finding them. While word of mouth recommendations are always best, here are a few online resources for finding new babysitters in Pittsburgh.

Sittercity focuses on babysitters and nannies. It is possible to search for a sitter with a car, who does not smoke and lives within 10 miles. Profiles include photos, reviews and (sometimes) background checks.

Care.com is a network that connects care providers and families. It includes child care, but also includes help for seniors and pet sitting. It includes photos, rates and reviews.

Craigslist might not be most people’s first choice based on all of the other things one can find there, but it can be a great resource for recruiting a full- or part-time nanny.

Indeed is another job search database for hiring sitter or nanny.

Great Au Pair is a resource for a variety of service providers, including sitters, tutors and personal assistants.

Did we miss any? Please let us know on Twitter so we can update the list. Have fun at the gym!
