  2. Can You Identify Famous TV Houses?

You’ve seen reruns of your favorite show on TV countless times, but how much do you really remember? In TV, it’s common to use an “establishing” shot to set the beginning of a story. This might be a 3 or 4 second exterior shot of the main characters’ house or the outside of some other key location in the ongoing story of the show. In many TV shows, this is the viewer’s only shot at catching a glimpse of the exterior of their beloved characters’ home. Some less observant viewers might not even think twice about what the house looks like. We, as homebuilders, just can’t help ourselves!

It’s time to put your TV knowledge to the test. If you’re a Netflix binge watcher, this might be the quiz for you. Some questions are more difficult than others, so take your time and dig deep into your memory! We know you’ve seen most of these shows, but what did the house look like?

    peters township pool

“There’s nothing to do!” and “I’m bored!” won’t work this year in Peters Township.  Community leaders and organziations have lots of great activities planned for the summer. Here are 7 people and places with ideas of things to do in Peters Township.

    1. Peters Township Public Library kicks off its children’s Summer Reading Program “Fizz Book Read” with a sign-up party on Saturday, June 14. The program runs for 8 weeks through the summer. The library offers daily activities for teens including open gaming sessions in the Teen Room, crafternoons, movie nights, and monthly book clubs. Adults can participate in the many clubs offered at the library – from cooking, couponing, stamp collecting, writing workshops, Go Green, and a variety of lively book groups.

Coming this summer we will present screenings of environmentally-focused films, programs with Civil War-related themes, and weekly computer classes on a variety of topics. We can also help with technology questions at our drop-in service on Monday evenings or Saturday afternoons. To learn more about all that your library has to offer, visit us at www.ptlibrary.org, like us on Facebook, check out our mobile app on your phone, or stop by in person and speak with a staff member. Our hours are Monday-Thursday, 9am-9pm; Friday, 9am-5pm; Saturday, 9am-4pm. We are closed on Sundays from May 25 through September 1. We look forward to your visit!

Pier Lee, Peters Township Public Library

    2. Summer Fun and Academic Fitness Classes from the Peters Township School District are offered for students during the summer break. Classes range from ceramics to sports fun and are available for a variety of age groups. Details on course offerings, costs and registration information can be found on the District website.

  6. Gyms with Child Care Help Us Find Time for Exercise

We live in a busy world. I don’t know about your house, but mine is always in “Everything all at once, hurry up, go go go” mode. Sound familiar? I had a feeling you would understand.

We try to schedule things for ourselves, and occasionally there is time, but usually us-time involves multitasking—Netflix while folding clean laundry or play dates at the park. Several things have to happen at the same time.

Exercise is one of my most valued solo activities and fitting it in is always tough. One way to find time in a busy schedule is with gyms that provide child care. Some have wonderful activities so kids can exercise while mom and dad do, too. Here some locations in Pittsburgh that help everyone in the family find time for exercise.

    Pittsburgh Gyms with Child Care

Healthtrax features a kidzone which includes several fitness programs geared towards children of various ages. This is included at no additional cost with the price of a family membership.

LA Fitness has Kids Klub and most Pittsburgh locations have child care—none at Southside Works—with varied rates.

Fitness 247 has a flat membership rate that includes access to all amenities, including child care, at no additional cost for parents.

St. Clair Fitness  Racquet Club membership offers various plans for families and parents, many of which include child care at no additional fee.

Club One has child care included at no additional fee with a gold membership. If parents don’t have a gold membership, cost per daycare session is an extra $2 per child.

JCC has babysitting in Squirrel Hill and the South Hills. Monthly rates apply for members.

YMCA offers various child care programs, including a child watch service during parental work outs, as well as after school programs. This service is provided at no additional cost with certain types of memberships, although they are no available at all locations.
